This special issue explores what we currently know, and what gaps remain, about the social transformations required to address today’s sustainability challenges. It brings together research examining changes across sectors, regions, cultures, and theoretical or methodological approaches, all focused on enabling societies to both mitigate and adapt to global environmental change. Together, the collection aims to serve as an evolving resource for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers working toward sustainable futures.
