Past Events - TC AI Project
Take a look at our past TC AI events:
Launching the Transformations Community AI Project
In April 2024, the Transformations Community (TC) hosted two online launch events for its new AI project. This initiative explores the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to support sustainability transformations and tackle global challenges. The project’s core objective is to cultivate a collaborative community centered on participatory co-design in sustainability AI. It aims to explore useful AI tools, real-world applications, and the broader implications of AI in driving sustainability transformations.
Critical AI Literacy for Action Researchers
In a recent gathering, key stakeholders from various organizations explored diverse applications and significant implications of AI technology within their fields. Moderated by Bruce Goldstein and Nick Graham, the session featured an insightful presentation from Kimberly Becker. The discussions spanned practical AI implementations, ethical considerations, and plans for future sessions.
AI in Sustainability Transformations, SRI Congress
The discussion on AI for Sustainability Transformations brought together experts to explore AI’s potential and challenges in sustainability practices. Facilitated by Bruce Goldstein from the University of Colorado and Transformations Community colleagues, the session focused on the AI co-design project, highlighting AI’s role in sustainability through transdisciplinary and community-based approaches.
Participatory AI & Community Engagement
In this meeting, key members of the Transformations Community invited speakers and other participants discussed AI’s role in addressing social-ecological challenges. The session, moderated by Bruce Goldstein (Transformations Community) and Nick Graham (Transformations Community), featured presentations from Alex Tveit (Sustainable Impact), Norman Valdez (Community Foundations of Canada), Jessica Parker (Moxie), and Kimberley Becker (Moxie), covering a wide range of topics from participatory AI to collaborative technology development.
Indigenous Perspectives in AI
In a recent session, key stakeholders from various organizations gathered to explore the intersection of AI, Indigenous knowledge systems, and community-driven design. The event was moderated by Bruce Goldstein (Transformations Community) and Nick Graham (Transformations Community), with a presentation by Vanessa Raymond (Indigenous AI Working Group). Discussions centered on how AI can be ethically designed and applied in socially and environmentally responsible ways, rooted in Indigenous protocols and values such as reciprocity, responsibility, and respect.
