The IPBES Transformative Change Assessment is a landmark global effort bringing together 101 experts from 42 countries to synthesize thousands of sources, future visions, and case studies into pathways for addressing the root causes of biodiversity loss and enabling systems wide change.
A new study published in Nature Communications, based on an analysis of 4 million scholarly documents, reveals major blind spots in sustainability research. The findings show that academic attention disproportionately focuses on technological solutions and individual behavior while overlooking systemic economic change and key institutional actors needed to address the climate and biodiversity crises.
