The Routledge Handbook of Research Methods for Social-Ecological Systems

This open-access book on methods to study social-ecological systems covers 28 broad groups of methods, featuring contributions from almost a hundred authors in 16 countries. The book is primarily targeted at graduate students, lecturers and researchers working on SES, and has been written in a style that is accessible to readers entering the field from a variety of different disciplinary backgrounds. Each of the method chapters introduces a set of related methods, and discusses the types of SES questions that can be addressed with these methods, as well as the resources and skills required. Practical examples of how the methods have been applied in SES research are also provided in each chapters.

The book also includes several chapters introducing SES research, and concludes with a discussion of key gaps and frontiers in the methods used in the SES field, and a glossary of key terms.
